Wood bandsaw steels
Three ways to better productivity!
The bandsaw steel itself represents less than a percent of the sawmill’s costs, but impacts the whole company’s profitability. That’s why selecting a bandsaw steel with minimal main- tenance and maximal run-time should be the obvious choice.
But what’s so special about Sandvik’s bandsaw steel?
Our steel has a higher tensile strength and is therefore able to tolerate higher blade strain, which gives a straighter cut and less waste. Together with high flatness, straightness, and surface-finish as well as a higher fatigue limit, we have reduced the risk of unplanned blade changes.
All three types of our bandsaw steels can be run in up to two shifts without having to be re-tensioned. To get better service life between regrindings, the cutting edge is tipped with a cobalt alloy.
Today, Sandvik is one of the world’s leading steel companies and has manufactured bandsaw steel since 1885. Some of their most important success factors have been total control of the production process as well as an uncompromising attitude to quality.
Sandvik offers three types of quality bandsaw steels:
- Sandvik Bright,
- Sandvik Multishift,
- Sandvik Durashift.
In short, when you choose Sandvik’s bandsaw steel, you also choose increased productivity and profitability. That’s the difference.
